In this work, which the Postgraduate and Research Department of La Salle Pachuca University has coordinated for months, we meet these people who, due to their mobility, become strangers, foreigners, problems, dangers, migrants. The violence of their environment strikes them in their dignity, the path that helps them to meet the other becomes for them an ordeal full of pain, threats, violations, risks and denigration. To talk about all of them, as it could not be otherwise, various pens have sat at the same table of reflection, of different sexes, of different ethnicities, from various academic institutions, with multiple optics; but all of them with the healthy intention of warning of the complex and sad reality of migrants in Mexico.

Each project represents not only the hard work of its authors, but also the ability of our institutions to foster curiosity, rigorous research, and innovative thinking. These investigations provide us with specific knowledge, but also invite us to reflect on how to apply these findings for the benefit of our society, a permanent task in our educational mission.

Exhacienda La Luz

The Exhacienda La Luz has been an urban-architectural space that has quietly witnessed the lives of many inhabitants of Pachuca. Meetings and disagreements have occurred within its walls. Sometimes these are in the form of classrooms, offices, auditoriums, homes and other uses that throughout their history have left a physical mark on their current layout. Its privileged location next to the Río de las Avenidas - today Viaducto Nuevo Hidalgo - has given it a leading role in the urban development of our city. For many years it was the limit of the urban layout of Pachuca, in others a strategic deposit of raw materials for the mining industry to which it owes its origin because its initial purpose was to benefit minerals. Today, within the framework of the thirtieth anniversary of the institutional life of the La Salle Pachuca University, we have proposed to do a historical review of this century-old building.

We have all heard the expression “to the fullest extent of the law”. We have heard it from the mouths of politicians, magistrates, judges, lawyers... Normally, it conveys the sense that the law is the expression of justice and that it will be applied indiscriminately to all citizens. However, we all know that not every time this expression is pronounced, the goal will be achieved. What's more, we don't trust that those who say it are really interested in applying the law, getting justice and doing it indiscriminately.
